Versatility is a rare skill that geniuses possess. It’s a skill on its own that is only available to those who thirst for it. The saying: “Jack of all trade, master of none” has been defied by guys who are extremely versatile who have refined this saying as: “Jack of all trade master of all”. It’s not necessary to be adept in lots of things or to have a high degree of dexterity in various fields. Just no a bit of everything. Like my friend Philip will always say: “know everything about something and know a something about everything”.
The only difference between your rich friend and you is not in the fact that he is more skillful than you are, it just that he applies is skill better and more efficient than you do. In most companies now, it’s not about your certifications and acquired skills, it’s about the extent of how well you have applied those skills you acquired.
Einstein said in physics, Power = Work Done/Time Since Work Done = Applied Knowledge, Time = Money and Knowledge = Power, therefore the mathematical deduction above becomes
Knowledge = Applied knowledge/Money. Which later becomes Money = Applied knowledge/Knowledge. The more we apply our knowledge (skill) the more money we get.
Versatility is a function of applied knowledge which is a function of money.
Let me end this by saying: If life is a multiple choice question, let your answer be all of the above
